keeping fresh mushies fresh

Picked about 80 subs yesterday and wasn't able to stick them in my food dehydrator till 12 hours later (didn't arrive home until then). For the 12 hours they were sitting in newspaper in a dark place.
My question is how long can they sit fresh (not in the fridge/freezer) before they start to rot?
Sorry tried searching but couldn't find nothing.

I'd throw them in a ziploc freezer bag and into your freezer as soon as possible. They will start to attract flies & grow worms if you don't :undecided:

I didn't plan on leaving them out for 12 hours but was unable to do anything else. I've had them sitting in a food dehydrator with a low-heat temp setting for the past 8 or so hours and they are just about dry now. It doesn't look to me like there's anything wrong with them so should they be fine?

Why don't you try drying them out using fans? Once there dry store them in a sealed jar and they'll be good.

you don't even need fans. i just put mine on the closet shelf and a couple of days later...dry...no heat...no flys...no rot...
