if I was to buy regular weed, not hash, and eat opposed to smoke it, would i get high? I heard the effects are better, how long does it take to kick in?

Yup it would work. That links has quite a few recipes. It take longer to kick in...around an hour. The effects are a bit different than smoking...and the high lasts longer.
Edit: I found this on Erowid and it was kind of interesting:
Me and a friend, the other week, decided to take the last of our weed
and instead of smoking it, cook it. We fried it for about 10 minutes
in butter, then got out a can of Chili-Mac and dumped it in there, and
added some Velveeta (tm) (couldn't find brownie mix.. didn't want to go
spend money). The Chili-Mac tasted like shit, so we won't be doing that
again... Anyways, There was a show that night at a local music club,
a few bands that we wanted to see (I think it was Brutal Juice, Caulk
and someone else, all local Dallas/Denton bands (If you ever get a chance,
pick up a Brutal Juice tape, they are REALYL good, sortof a hardcore
punk/grunge, with dual strobe lights..)) and I had heard several times
on alt.drugs that when you eat weed, it takes about 3 or 4 hours to
take affect. So by that calculation, we decided to eat it around 3 in
the afternoon, to be nice and stoned at the show. Bad idea--The pot
started taking effect in about 30-45 minutes, and rose
slowly and steadily.. We watched some anime (japanese animation) for a
while, then decided to turn off the sound and put music on (because
the soundtrack on the anime sucked).. That was really cool, of course,
so we played with the TV more, and got out this cheesy porn video
we had bought a while back that basically sucked; on pot it was pretty
cool; though and got us real horny, so we talked about it for a minute
and decided that I'd go outside and wait while he jacked off, then
he'd go outside and wait while I did same. That was cool, also.
Then we decided to put on some noise music (from Japan) and turn on
static on the TV. If you get a chance, pick up _Shinsen Na Clitoris_
by Masonna and listen to it while watching static on the TV while
stoned, it's like a lightening bolt through your spine. Similar
effects can be gotten from _Emanation Machine R. Gie 1916_ by SPK
(off of _Information Overload Unit_). Anyways, so we sat around
listening to noise and stuff for a while.. and talked about how we
were feeling, and stuff.. around 8 or 9 we started to get REAL tired,
which sucked because we wanted to see the music show real bad.. we
ended up going to sleep and missing it entirely. When I woke
up the next morning, I could _STILL_ feel it a little bit, like 16
hours after I had ingested it! Overall, I like eating it better
than smoking it, for the most part.. I like being high for the longer
period of time, een when it isn't as intense as it'd otherwise be.
One interesting thing which maybe someone else on here could tell me
if they experienced this also, several times I felt myself going down
a little bit, then a little later getting even higher than before.
I have never noticed this kind of effect while smoking, it's always
a go-up-till-you-peak,then-coast-down-slowly .. never a rollercoaster
like this. I found it very interesting. Next time I'll get real
brownie mix though

its a different high, a lot more trippy. depending on how you prepare it, you may need to eat more than you would normally smoke. if you're just eating the bud, eat like two joints' worth. it will kick in about an hour, maybe longer, and it will last several hours. it can be very intense so don't eat too much!

eat about twice as much as you would normally put in a joint. maybe a little less if you want to be cautious. it may take up to three joints' worth to get properly high. there are various recipies for cooking with weed - search the forum.

Cooking and eating prepared weed in food really makes the mexican shit weed we get around here worth buying. Although I can't use for quite a while, if I were to do it again it would be through a cooking method, not smoking.

cooking w/ it rocks. And yes you have to heat it some way or another. The easiest way to do it is throw it in some box brownie or muffin mix. The only thing about this is it doesn't taste all that good. THC needs a fat source, like oil or butter to be absorbed into the blood stream. So making butter is the best way to do it. If done properly, you can remover most of the taste, and still retain all the THC. Check this out

The Leary Biscuit
You will need:
-Cheese (I prefer to use cheddar)
-Crackers (I find that the grooves in tricuit work well for this application)
-Herbal Seasoning of your choice
Grind your seasoning. Lay out a cracker and sprinkle a quarter sized amount (more or less) of seasoning onto it. Cut a slice/pat of cheese large enough to cover the seasoning, but not so large as to hang off the edges of the cracker.
Pop your creations into the microwave for anywhere from 10-20 seconds depending on the strength of your nuker. You only want to just melt the cheese. Try adding an olive on top. Maybe you like pepper jack cheese. Get creative.

no, you cannot od on weed by eating it-you cannot od on weed at all. you would throw it up if you ate a large enough amount.

ive sprinkled an 8th of dank on a tostino's (small, $1 pizza), and me and my friend each ate half. We passed out in 45 minutes (ate it at about 4pm, and neither of us were tired)
needless to say it was a great nap, but not a $25 nap.

No tinfoil is needed (or recommended.) Just put your assembled goodies on a plate before microwaving. Just keep an eye on them as the cook to ensure the cheese doesn't boil over.

Eating weed just doesn't seem to do it for me.. Last time I was in Holland, I ate 8g of hash cooked into a small tray of brownies, and just didn't get very high.. I spent the whole day before that smoking pot though, actually I spent pretty much the whole 6 yrs before that smoking pot..
