Making tea

Today me and 2 friends made tea from 11 grams of shrooms. Naturally, I was expecting for quite the trip (especially after a friend told me he tripped pretty hard off of 3 grams of the same stuff), but all I got was a decent high with barely noticable visuals, and it only lasted a half hour. So I'm thinking maybe I didn't make the tea right. I'll explain what we did, and maybe someone here could point out something we may have done wrong...
We started by boiling 2.5 cups of water. We took it off the burner and put 3 teabags and the shrooms in. We let it sit for about 15 minutes, stirring every couple minutes. After that we strained the shrooms out (and the teabags) and drank up.
I was thinking for one that we should have broken down the bigger pieces. I could just eat them straight, but I end up throwing up almost everytime... my stomach can't handle them too well.

Teas don't work well for me. I believe the heat kills the active parts of the mushrooms. My favorite way to down them is to dry them cracker dry, then grind them down to a fine powder in a coffee grinder or similar. Sprinkle the powder into some OJ or other type of juice that you like to drink and stir. You could even put it in a PB & J sandwich or a Taco Bell burrito. I do the juice because I don't like to have food in my stomach when that weird feeling starts in it. The benefit to this is that you can drink it down fast without tasting the shrooms too much and you can weigh out an exact dosage for each person.

What I do with tea is make a cup of hot tea, powder/chop finely the mushrooms, and then put them in the hot tea and stir around. By this time the tea isn't boiling hot but still pretty damn warm. I let it sit for about 5 minutes and drink it down. I've never had any problems with this method and find that it hits me a lot quicker.

Yeah, next time I'll try grinding them up and throwing it in juice. I have made tea work well before, but more often than not it doesn't work out so well... a waste of shrooms.
Heh... one of my friends yesterday spilled his tea onto his skateboard, and it caught most of it.... so he took a straw and drank it up.

Tea never worked for me unless I boil it heavily for at least 10-20 minutes. You don't lose any noticable potency from heat.

I've made tea from fresh, hour-old pan subbs before. I heated up some water, through in some green tea, reishi, and multivitamin (anything to prolong the life of the tea), chopped up the mushrooms and put them in when the water was hot but not nearly boiling. I let them sit for a while and then squeezed them out through cheesecloth (or was it the girlfriend's stockings?) getting every last bit of liquid out. The trip was great. The potency was above what was to be expected for fresh subbs, but they are a variable species. A great way to go in my opinion.

powder the shrooms and add some lemon juice next time, remember not to boil the liquid once you've added the shrooms, espcially if they're pulverized. My most intense trip was on shroom tea, so it must be diffrences in fruits/preparation.

Tea has never failed for me, I've done it about 5 times. They may be less potent shrooms.

They're supposed to be potent... I hooked this one guy up with them and he said he tripped pretty hard off of 3.

Don't remove the chunks. Grind to a super fine powder in a coffee grinder with some dried mint leaves. The mint will both help ease nausea slightly, and completely mask the taste if you put in the right amount. Then again, I don't know just how sensitive your stomach is. 5 minutes is too short if you're straining it out.

Steep for 10-30 minutes, or steep, strain, drink... and pour hot water over the shrooms again for a 2nd extract... see if that helps.

Basically there are two methods of making tea:
1) leave the shrooms in the water and drink 2) filter the shrooms out of the water and drink
I have never had method one fail. In fact, the most powerful trip I ever had with mushrooms was a tea made from method one. Method one is easy to drink down (for me), but doesn't help any with the body load later.
With method two, I have had mixed results. The trip is always mild for me with method two regardless of the specifics. Boiling the shrooms doesn't seem to reduce potency, but this is a qualatative observation. Length of time that the shrooms soak seems to make a huge difference. The more time, the better. Lots of stirring, and squeezing the excess liquid from the fruitbodies also seems to help. Method two has a lot less body load.

Is there still a significant body load if I grind them into a powder and simply put em in juice?

personally for me...i like the tea better for fresh shrooms....but it doesent seem to work as well with the dry ones.
anyway the way i like to do it is get a bunch of fresh shrooms and cut them up with sciccors as small as i can. Then i have this tea maker thingy for loose tea that i can press this screen down on the shrooms and pour the tea out....
anyway i heat some water up for a few minutes in the microwave in that thing...i let sit for about 30 second and then i add the shrooms.then i stir stir stir. I like to be able to leave it overnight but sometimes i cant wait.
works like a charm
