I have been seeing alot of post about colinization and the lenghts it takes. i was just wondering how long it took for your first attempt to grow mushies? i have seen many replys saying patients. just to eleviate some unnessasry posts please reply. just a refrance on time for the newbie like my self
my cakes are almost a month old. they started on the 26 of september. they are almost fully colinized. i started a second batch a week later and they are going good also.

from innoculation to first picking, my first attempt took about six weeks. this was growing EQs on PF cakes.
the cakes are still going now though, just waiting for the second/third flush (different cakes on different flushes).

i innoculated my first jars about early july and i still havent seen 2 mushrooms yet. i say that because out of dumb curiosity on my very first attempt i made an extra syringe from p. cubensis acadian and shot it in this big compost pile in my backyard (unfortunately its almost all dog shit) 1 skinny ass shroom about 4" long emerged after 10 days with a dime sized cap that was upturned and over mature after 11 total days. i ate it and felt almost nothing the whole day, was mbe 3 grams wet. its now been about 4 months or so and i think i have all my kinks worked out, also have about 25 jars in teh works right now and 3 casings. 1 decent looking one- lipas; 1 cubensis one thats been cased for a good month now w/ no fruit and 1 puerto rican that i think might be contaminated and way too wet in the substrate. im looking forward to those lipas giving me fruit early next month. sometimes things just take a while. especially when youre a moron like me :)

My friend said she tried for about four months with uncecessful fruiting. So she switched gears and tried agar. The rest is history.:) bluhoney

It took my jars 3 weeks to become 100% and then when i birthed them (1 week ago) they dont have shrooms yet but im guessing soon. And my casings were birthed about 4 days ago.

My friend's dog groomer took 6 weeks his first time, out of 12 jars and 3 strains, only 4 jars made it (Amazonian strain)

Homestead kit out of high times. Three months before any fruting took place. But it wasn't until i said screw it and abandoned the damn terrium that the only three mushrooms grew and toppled over. total dry weight of 3 grams. promised a friend that purchased the kit that we'd split. and you guessed it- slight teaser of a buzz...then gone.

this wierdo I know used just brown rice with vermiculite on top of it to prevent contaminants (no vermiculite in the rice) it was all loosly packed he had full colonization in under two weeks. Before he had used both brown rice and vermiculite (not loosly packed) it took almost two months and he told me that they were a big pain in the ass to get out of the jars. so... Dont pack your shit tight if you want fast colonization.

Started with Koh samui and Eq spores on Oct 1. with my cakes just birthed them yesterday. Started my 6 quart jars of birdseed on the 4th and 4 of them finished colonizing on the 14th. one of the other two was too wet and wasnt doing anything so I threw it out. I cased two and used the other two to spawn 6 more jars and 4 cakes. The two jars I cased I made four casings out of , one of them is on the second day of pinning and the other ones are ready to initiate . That makes 20 days so far. I expect the casing thats pinning will be done in a week or so with the first flush. So four weeks mabey.
