Always leave aluminum foil over top?

When you place 1/2 pint BRF jars in the incubator are you supposed to leave the aluminum on top and such? If aluminum was taken off should more be put on (unsterilized). Verm layer on top with 1 layer of postal tyvek over it. All innoc. holes were taped after innoc, some jars had 4 innoc holes, 2 were used and the other 2 were left for a small amount of air exchange. Thanks for all the info.

I never used to use foil or tape for PF jars, and advise against it. The dry verm barrier should be plenty of protection along with a bit of much needed air exchange.
