i wanna thank the shroomery for providing the information they do. without them...i wouldnt have tripped freaking hardcore last week.

my first time growing, i harvested about 20 decent size shrooms on my first flush, then about 15 my 2nd flush. i tripped really hard with a good friend of mine and broke even.

now for a few questions....
my cakes now have flushed twice, is it okay to use them for a casing?
if it is...then couldnt i just case with them, flush, then case again? over and over? without the need of new spores?

you might get one flush from your casing with that cake. the cycle doesn't repeat, no, the mycelium looses strength gradually and is usually spent by the 4th flush. you'll need to make a print or do a lc

You can but it's weak mycelium (as compared to newer myc.)...So it's not as strong - So it's less contam resistant...

So you CAN...but there's a nice sized chance that it'd contam...

But that doesn't mean that it won't work :wink:

If you do case it, be sure to use a stronger h2o2 solution than normal (It may not be necessary, but a lil extra never hurt rite?)

I've succesfully spawned BRF casings to h-poo after 2 and 3 flushes.. That's giving it extra nutes, and more flushes.. My plan is to keep spawning to more poo as my flushes get weak, unless I get contams.. I'll have bigger and bigger casings, but that's O.K. w/me :wink:

Spawning is a different matter than casing. When you are spawning you are essentially making new mycelium, as you are giving it new nutes to multiply and be ... errr fruitful with.

So you can use a casing that has had several flushes to spawn to more h/poo? Any down side to this...

Would you suggest taking the casing and spawn it to wbs first then to h/poo or striaght to the h/poo?

thanks all. to lemonhead, casing with anything with nutrients will invite a great deal of contams.

from what i learned here... casing is just expanding the area in which the mushies will grow
spawning is building new mycelium for more flushes.

as for a spore print... what can i do to make this healthy cap of mine drop spores. i know the surrounding humidity has to be lower than the water content of the cap in order to drop spores. anyone have any suggestions as to a setup i can make?

right now i have the cap inside a 1/2 pint jar which has no lid to it.
the jar is inside a 2 gallon bucket with an airtight lid.
then i have a cup of damp-rid in there to make the humidity low.
