My first hunt and I found these...

Guys,

This was what I got from my very first hunt. I sorta just stopped with the hunt when I found these...

a. Habitat: South East Georgia. I found these in a cow field in large area with manure and hay. I knocked some dried manure off the root end of the smaller mushrooms.
b. Characteristics of the gills: Smut black gills.
c. Measurements of cap and stem: Caps very, aswell as stems.
d. Characteristics of the stem: White, fibrous, and solid.
e. Characteristics of the cap: It's a dirty pearl color, sperical..
f. Spore print color: Black, seems to have gotten over all the others I had stored with...
g. Color that the mushroom bruises: No color, as of yet..
h. Scent of mushroom: Like a mushroom (hehe)

It's obviously not a Psilocybe but am just curious about what it could be. By now, some bugs will probably have eaten them (little white worms, I think)..

I will be receiving my mushroom guide before my next hunt. Do all active mushrooms stain blue? Is that the litmus test for activity?

More or less,yes... If they are active, then yes, they bruise/stain blue... But not all mushrooms that stain blue are active.
