My Second Hunt...the day after...need some help IDing

Yesterday i went on my first hunt and didnt find much of anything...so i decided to go today and i focussed more on the areas of dead grass and horse droppings...again...i went to a trail behind a horse stable and there were a couple big areas of dead cut grass and shoveled-up horse shit...here's what i found...if you need spore prints...let me know...and also let me know how to do that :wink:


Mushroom #1
Habitat:  Found growing from dead grass mixed with horse droppings...about a day and a half since last rain fall
Characteristics: dark brown and looks kind of shiny on top...the gills are a little bit of a darker brown

Mushroom #2
Habitat:Found growing from dead grass mixed with horse droppings...about a day and a half since last rain fall...though i had to dig a little bit to pick them..they were almost submerged in the ground...i though that i might have not waited enough time for them to grow...tell me what you think.
Characteristics: almost a shiny silver or blueish-grey...the stems are pure white and feel almost hollow.

Mushroom #3
Habitat:  Found growing from dead grass mixed with horse droppings...about a day and a half since last rain fall
Characteristics: Lighter brown and some dark brown...it looks like on the top of the cap there are rings...the gills are a darkish brown color

Mushroom #4
Habitat:  Found growing from dead grass mixed with horse droppings...about a day and a half since last rain fall
Characteristics: Similiar to Mushroom #3 but they don't have the rings.

1.) not sure

2.) Coprinellus [formerly Coprinus] spp. not sure what species

3.) Panaeolus subbalteatus.

4.) Panaeolus spp. not sure what species but possibly more subbalteatus, i need to take another look.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

on #4 i'm not yet sure. you should spore print it but it looks like it's probably a Panaeolus species to me. the print should be black. i'm not sure if it's subbalteatus though, but you should look for any blue bruising near the base of the stipes.

#2, your Coprinellus is not active. they are not generaly considered edible and some species cause a toxic effect if eaten within a period of several hours to several days of alcohol consumption.

[edit: take a print on #1 aswell if you have the chance and want it identified]

#3 is almost for sure subs. Of course take a spore print to be sure. It should be jet black.
I agree #2 is some sort of coprinellus looks kind of like shaggy mane but without the shag. Might be tasty. Wait for someone more experianced and as concretefeet said don't drink alcy with it, not even a little bit.
#1 yeah get a spore print.
#4 ??? beats the shit out of me.
