flat lib cap

The other day while my friend and I were picking liberty caps in his field we found several (what looked like) libs with completly flat tops.We took a spore print and compared it to a lib cap print and they looked the same colour. They both also had a gel layer over the cap.Has anybody seen a liberty cap like this? in the shroom field guide I have it says the caps will always stay closed and will not open all the way.

I have picked semilanceata that have opened up to a flat cap. It happens when they get really old, i dunno the caps prolly halfway rotten at that point.
