I use some of the older leaves, you don't need to kill the plant for getting the leaves. Use a high grade ethanol (96 % or so) for the extraction.

AS far as when to use the leaves you should pick older leaves perferable all at once, and use them as soon as they are dry. Becuse they start to lose potency the longer you wait, I dont have any numbers as to how long is to long to wait though.
I know THC is very soluable in acetone, but have never tryed saliva extraction.
And doing the acuall extraction is easy. think of it like making a tea but with acetone insead of water, the just evaporate the actone and ther you have it. Actually you want to probably want to add some crushed leaves to this to make it easier to handle.
I you have an questions I should be able to help, Post or PM me.

The big difference between acetone and ethanol, is that ethanol can be drank, while I wouldn't dare to drink acetone ;)
Acetone is a much better solvent than ethanol, and it extracts beside the magic (salvinorin, THC, psilocin, etc.) also other things from the plant material.

Though I don?t recomend anyone to drink it, acetone is not that poisonous.
The oral LD50 in rabbits and rats is app. 5.5 g per kg.
If you take a man with 150 pounds, this would mean the oral LD50 dose would be 68kg x 5.5 g/kg = 374 g = 13.2 oz of pure acetone.
That?s prety much if you ask me.

Hi Anno,
You wrote it LD50! That doesn't mean that you don't get irreparable damages much before that amount ;) E.g. the "Acute Oral LD50 (Rat) - 5.6 g/kg" for methanol is much the same as for acetone, and still you can become blind easily. Ehheemmm..., besides acetone tastes like shit ;)
