how to make a stove from an element
    #4288440 - 06/12/05 07:19 PM (18 years, 9 months ago)

Ok its stinking hot just about everywhere and pc'ing grains inside the house for hours at a time pisses everyone off.
So i thought i'd shell out some bucks and by a portable electrical stove cost about $45. However it doesnt stay hot enough to keep pressure in the pc.

Anybody knkow how to take a stovetop element and set a controle on it so that you could have full and simmer capabilities????

Im kinda electrically inclined but a stove is 220 and household plugs are 110. Im not sure of the best way to go about this but im sure it can be done.

find an asian grocery store or a restaurant supply store.
I bought a portable gas burner for 22$ and 4 canisters of butane for 2.50.
The brand I have is "Thunder Range"
It'll boil, simmer, do a dance, and make a little love.

Whatever you use to heat the pc, it's going to make hot steam. Electric or gas, it's still heat.

I know what you mean though. It's murder living in a steam bath.

i know its goin gto make heat i just want it to make heat outdoors. most portable electric stove tops have a regulator that prevent them from getting "too hot". If there was a way to take a normal stove top element and hook it up to a 110v plug it would be possible to pc outside and keep all the steam and heat out of my nice a/c cooled house.

Acetylene torches work wonders heating shit up.. they just leave black marks all over that shit. I use a lil portable coleman stove, works just fine for pc and pasteurizing.

You need a burst fired controller for the element. Costs about $50

You will need a dimmer switch and an element. You use the dimmer switch to regulate the temp of the coil.
You're stove and the portable burners have temp sensitive cut off switches in them. They will turn the burner on untill it gets to a temp way over boiling then it is shut off untill the temp drops below the lowend setting.
With the dimmer switch you can keep the coil at one temp. No up and down balancing as the burner kicks on and off.
