It is illegal (at least in america) for an employer to say bad things about you if they are called in regards to a recommendation for a future employer.

But if you are really worried....call in sick. It's the catch-all cure to avoiding something at work.

It's illegal!? Are you absolutely sure?

My work is cool but they're picky...you can only have a handful of sick days in a year before they call you in and give you a written warning.

convo with a boss before about having to

Onemorerobot may I suggest you tell them you had a fall recently and as a result suffered temporary amnesia. Say that you will be happy to come back and show them how to use the system when your memory fully returns, of course a consultancy fee would have to be agreed....ahem..etc etc
