The blame game.
    #4267468 - 06/07/05 11:29 AM (18 years, 10 months ago)

You walk along a road, you then trip.
Who is to blame?

We could say, that the one who put what you tripped on, where you tripped on it, is to be the one blamed.
We could say, you are to blame, as you were walking there instead of here.
We could blame your parents, as the made you in the first place.
We could blame their parents, for making them, resulting in you, tripping.

Therefore, as you probably are catching on to (?), we could go on like this forever, so let us instead jump to the part where we blame, that which made people in the first place. (!?)

Now, what made people in the first place?
Assuming I cannot know this, I base it in having no base.
Thus, it is nothing. It is what I do not know, what is.

Then I could blame this, on what I do not even know what is/are.

I could blame nothing.
Nothing; could I blame.

Not blaming, anything; but blame in it self, ... and having tripped on something,  .. what I tripped on was blame? And, I am this blame?

".. be the blame, blame no one .."

people have a habit of blaiming, but the only purpuse of blaiming is to have something to focus your anger to. Out of this habit came the concept of justice.

haha, i wrote it again, probaly the same stuff, but here it is..

Quote:

The blame game! (The round of blame)

If I bit my tongue; who could I blame for it?

I could say I was to blame.
If it was my tongue, and I bit it, it surely was my fault.
I would not have bitten my tongue, unless I had one.
I would not be able to bit me, if I were not me.

Mom and Dad, made me. My grandparents, made my mother, and my father.
I could then blame them. Further, we could blame the one who made us.

What made us, I could assume we do not know, hence, I am blaming something, I do not know what is. Nothing, is something I do not know what is, simply because it is nothing but the concept; ?not any thing?.

So then, I am blaming nothing.
I blame nothing.

That I bit, my tongue, is in other words the blame?
I am blame.
I have the blame, by being it.

If you stroke me in my face, I must be there; have come there, and is the blame, just as you?

old bump, great thread.
I have a friend(kinda) who incessantly plays the blame game. Any time she has a problem she's incredibly quick on her feet to blame the nearest person/thing, no matter how erroneous her claim of blame seems.

i like where oldwoldspector was taking this dialogue...and to me seems like the only logical continuation of the discussion.

why do we blame? what purpose does it serve? are there cases in which it is useful or detrimental?

it can be easy to blame when rationalizing, I guess blaming doesn't have to be a bad thing.
'I blame my hunger on not having eaten'
-an example of logical blaming.

blame could also alleviate guilt/shame....which could lead to a quicker remedy of the problem....but could also be a bad thing....

sometimes guilt/shame is a good motivator.

I just think that people are supposed to look where they are walking. It is the person's fault for tripping. We'd all love to get money by sueing someone but thats just selfish. When you are out anywhere other than urban places, there are things to trip on all around. Your a doofus if you trip on something. It makes you feel embarrassed and want to blame the person who put the thing there.
But its your fault for taking your environment for granted

If a council has bad pavements or a mall has banana skins on the floor, that should be a stain on the place's name, unless they fix it up. But its not like its their fault.

but then i could argue that people could set up the environment to cause harm....

booby traps.

asphalt that causes more wear to a tire to generate profits for tire companies.....meaning more blowouts and flipped cars.??? i don't know i just made that up.....

Well if you know someone really did leave a booby trap then you would prosecute them and blame them yes. An outside observer, however, could look at the situation and determine: is a banana peel, for example, abooby trap? No because it is visible. Is a string tied about 20 centimeters from the ground a booby trap? yes most definately

someone could leave a banana peel in a precise location to harm someone....to where it is visible to a keen eye...but to a normal person would be destracted by other visualy stimulating objects in the surrounding atmosphere

Once again, if someone has intentionally placed somewhere that is not accessible to someone's attention then they can be blamed, for the victim does not have the reasonable potential to see the object (according to the very hypothetical we are considering)
