Bouncing incubation tempuratures.
    #424264 - 10/13/01 03:33 PM (23 years, 3 months ago)

Do colonizing jars mind if the tempurature that they are being colonized in is not always the same. Lets say they often have a 80 degree tempurature for an hour or two and then slowly drop down to 72 and then later back up to 80 and then down again and so on. My idea is to place a jar of boiled water into my terrarium to heat it up. I found that it gets it up to about 80 and when it cools down returns to 70 withing a couple hours. Would this be a good idea or no?

Try puttin g a small aquriuam heater in the water. You might have to wire it with a coat hanger to get it to hang properly. Some heaters wont work with too low a water level, while others will work fine in a couple inches of water.
