Strange Temptations

So I'm taking this summer class in Arthurian Legend and it's an interesting mix of folks. Some English majors, some renaissance studies majors, some actors and actresses, some filmmakers. One of the two actresses is this obscenely beautiful blonde girl whose name, I believe, is Laura.

You know how it is, sitting in class? You look around, make eye contact with random people, and it's weird. Well it's even weirder when the woman teaching your class is BLIND! so you can look around as much as you want. Laura and I keep making eye contact. All the time. Every five minutes or ten minutes. Yesterday we held it, and she curled her lips into a smile so attractive I couldn't bear to look for another second. And she did the same thing again today. When my friend Ben and I went to the elevator after class and I was holding the door for her and her friend she flashes it to me again with a lovely "Hi."

What's weirdest about this is that it's exactly how me and my current girlfriend got started - playing eye games in class.

I'm so bad at dealing with things like this...like how to do something as simple as become friends with someone who you think is probably really interesting, while not acting on all the...other impulses...that are there. It's such a mindfuck.

I mean it's not like an issue issue I don't think...I'm way in love and I'm just always thrown off by moments like this.

It's like we're all hurtling along on our own paths, with strings attaching us to everything. And once in a while you have these moments that make you wish you could cut all those strings loose.

Like when you're crossing the street, and a girl's crossing the other way, and you lock eyes, and for a moment that's all there is. And it's just as good as love, just for a moment. And you think...why can't we act on this? But then you realize you're being pulled elsewhere, by all those strings..

first off: I read the title as strange tampons.  I must *really* put forth an effort to read your titles twice.

second:  eye contact with a male would enrage you as much as it engrosses you with this female.

If we could do anything just for the moment with no strings attached I'd kill everyone who looked at me cockeyed. But then I'd have a string attached to a prison cell... consequences are a bitch. But in your case it is possible to become just friends with this chick, but then you may want to cut certain strings, I can't say.

Nah nah nah I'm not talking about serious bigness of issues here.

I'm just fascinated by what moments like this do to my brain...I'm fascinated by maleness and sexuality in general, that's what a lot of my writing deals with. I like to ponder.

Fantasizing about other versions of your own life..that's only natural. Right?

Yeah I get those sometimes but I don't even entertain the idea of the alternate reality unless one requisite has been met.
