Compost Pasturization
    #420737 - 10/10/01 12:28 PM (23 years, 4 months ago)

I picked up some compost today made locally (says its manure derived) and I was wondering if i could pasturize it in an autoclave bag in my PC but with a thermometer (i think 160-180F is ideal temp)?

180 is a good temperature. With compost out the bag, you might want to go ahead and pressurecook it instead of pasturizeing. The green mold seems to resist lots of times with baged compost and pasturizeing. Just fill up a few pint jars and pressure cook for an hour, let cool and use. :smile:bluhoney
