What is a "CoolMist"........

There often seems to be some confusion amongst newbies about what a "CoolMist" humidifier is & how it works.

It is a simple inexpensive IMPELLER driven device that picks up water from the container the small quite electric motor sits in, then by use of centrifugal force & very small fan type vanes inside it, mixes very fine droplets of internal water into a flow of air - from an intake on top it, which exhausts out of an outlet.

The result is a flow of moisture laden fresh air. Which is IDEAL for bulk substrate tray fruiting chamber, as it creates a high RH & provides fresh air exchange. Which is a key factor in optimal bulk fruit cultivation.

There are numerous brand names for the device.

Always REMEMBER? it is IMPELLER DRIVEN.

Not evaporative, ultrasonic, nor creates steam, as a "WarmMist" type does.

The one below is just one example of the many available - worldwide. It is altered to vent into a hose, which is connected to a fruiting chamber.

i've been thinking about adding a ultrasonic humidifier to my pmp which will have some cakes and blk casings. would a cool mist be a better choice? im finding better results from my pmp when i fan and mist and i was hoping to make it better so i won't have to do that anymore. (if i dont fan or mist its still fairly ok but i see such better results when i do)

The advantage of a "coolmist" is that it automates the fanning part.

Just picked this one up the other day for, of course, $2. Sunbeam Cool Spray Humidifier.



It really puts out a fog. I was surprised.

I hear it breaks down rather quickly, but I have no personal experience.

That one burnt up on me. I filled the water reservoir too high. now I'm back to using the older model, which I think the older model holds a few days more water. Also seems to be pushing out more air then the V4100 was.
