I havent tried it before, but it might work. Just look through links on mushroom pages and you'll probably find someone who sells the spores. Good idea. You can gain lots of experience this way. And if you fuck up, it doesn't matter as much.

Craterellus and Cantherellus are mycorrhizal and cannot be grown without a host seed plant. I don't beleive anyone has succeeded growing Craterellus, but at least one Cantherellus has been grown in a greenhouse. Check this URL for more information.

There is a great deal of information regarding the culture of Agaricus, which can be grown on compost and grains with an unsterilized casing. It is, however, more difficult than growing Psilocybe cubensis. For your first time I would suggest growing the easiest mushrooms, Pleurotus ostreatus or oyster mushrooms. Invest in a self contained oyster kit from a reputable business like Fungi Perfecti. Its the quickest and most foolproof method to get growing mushrooms. You can then take spores or tissue cultures from the resulting mushrooms and make your own kit.
