This is nothing too remarkable, but I just found an excellent way of sterilizing your substrate. In the section of the grocery store where you find Shake n Bake and that sort of thing, there are little recipe/seasoning packets called Bag n' Season (made by McCormick). In them you'll find a plastic bag and tie that are perfect for boiling your substrate because they stand up to heat, and hold plenty of material. I used them to sterilize my verm and my 50/50 (peat moss/verm) casing mix and they worked like a charm. I even used them to provide a sunroof to my rubbermaid container by cutting a hole in the lid, cutting the bag down the side, and taping it to the lid. Anyway, I just thought I'd post this little discovery. Happy growing!

Why not use the oven bags that stand up to like 400 degrees celcius, they are used for cooking turkeys in.  You can get a box of a lot of them.

I admit it, Im a fungal-feliac
