So Flipping them in the jar wont hurt or bruise the growing substrate?

no

you can smack the substrate loose from the bottom of the jar...to get the bottom of the cake to colonize.

yw

also...

I use the Maximum fruiting formula.

Maximum fruiting formula:
1/4 cup of brown rice powder
1/2 cup of vermiculite
60 cc's water

double the recipe by 4...and it will make up 5 widemouth 1/2 pint PF jars.

lightly tap the substrate into the jar...then wipe the lip of the jar before putting in the dry Verm.

this recipe worked better for me.
