My jars have been colonizing way to long.They where starting to slow down so I flipped the jars so the verm. side faced down and they started speeding up again,that was 10 days ago and they seem to have stopped growing with about 50% of the top colonized. So my jars are about 95% colonized. They have been going for 3 weeks now,What do I do? Am I just being impatient?

if you have a hepa filter a little trick i do is hold the jar upside down over the hepa filter to force some good clean air in there. now a couple of questions. do you have tape on your lids? and when you flipped them did you give it a tap on the bottom so the the substrate on the bottom seperated from the bottom of the jar?

When you flip the jars, you need to be careful, some of the verm can spill down the sides of the jars and give the impression that it is not fully colonized. While this may not be the case, if you still see nothing in 2 days, birth one and see if this was the problem. If not, you can cut off the tops that are uncolonized and case it.

NO I don't have tape on my jars.
I don't have a hepa filter.
Yes I tapped the jar,there is a prob a 1/4 inch between the jar and the substrate. There is alot of condensation building up at the top so every couple days I tip the jars a bit and let the moisture run down to the bottom of the jars. They ARE growing,just slooooooooow.
I also barley crack the sealed lid once in a while to let in fresh air. They all look healthy and white with no contams.

I only flipped my jars once so its not verm. I turned them lid side down and thats the way they stayed:)

The temp is between 80-83 24/7. I just opened 1 jar and let the cake slide about half way out trying to get fresh air in the jar. Think It will help?

I have seen people fruiting cakes that are not 100% done. Should I just go ahead and fruit them?

you can do that but cut off the uncolonized part first and then dunk and roll them or dunk and end case. both have worked fine for me, without having to cut off anything. havent had any stall like these. anyone else have any help here? must be a reason for it. got any pics?

hard to say. On one hand you are dissipating built up co2 and introducing oxygen (good), but on the other hand is the possibility of contamination from what im assuming was just ambient unsterile air entering the jar (bad). I wouldn't do it, but I would have a filter in my lid for gas exchange...:) wait a couple more days, if you say they are growing, even if its slow, just let them finish. not worth the risk of contams IMO

you said there is alot of condensation? it might be because there is too much water in the jars. n u dont wanna do anything to risk contame, so keep the holes at the top and keep the heat goin. maybe this will help evaporate some water

Okay so flipping the jars Lid side up isn't going to hurt the growth?
If I flip the jars the bottom of the jars will be on the bottom again. That's not going to help if its a co2 def.

yea, but I think what he means is that the extra build up of H2O due to the condensation is going to be worse than the extra build up of CO2.

no

terrible idea.

just keep flipping them in the jar...the verm barrier will protect the cake.
taking them out of the jar before they are fully colonized will invite contams into your jars.

if its taking you over 3 weeks to colonize BRF/Verm cakes...you might have a water content problem.

which recipe did you follow?
