Does anyone see any problems with this proposed bulk setup?
    #4114383 -

Okay what I want to do is use this container with another container inside (TiT). The inside container will be filled with 7 Quart jars of colonized PR WBS and horse manure using a 5:1 ratio. I will let the horse manure fully colonize and use the same container to fruit in.

During the fruiting phase I will either wrap the top in saran wrap or cut a fairly good size hole in the lid and put a piece of Plexiglas for light to penetrate.

The container is fairly large so I will be putting my eggs in one basket unfortunately.

I assume that the substrate will be some 4-5 inches thick and should put out some monster fruits. Based on this setup can anyone tell me if there is a better way of doing this?

Here are some photos of the container. Keep in mind that there will be two of them.

I would really like to hear from some of the experienced guys on this one, but if you have an opinion I'd still like to hear it.

yes that will work!~

I did this a couple years ago...during the winter.

you don't want the heater pumping out too much heat...with this set up.

stay in the mid 70's to high 70's...don't get it into the 80's.

Thanks Roadkill. Question though, what if I simply avoid the TiT and use the straight container? My home temps range from 68-70 degrees and the heat from the colonization should bring it up, shouldn't it?

Is that too risky? Maybe the temps will be too low for incubating.

What do you think?

try without at first.

if you don't see the mycelium eating up the poo in several days...

then try the TIT way.

remember to keep the horse poo...light and fluffy(airy)...not too compact.

and be sure and squeeze the poo til you only get a few drips of water dripping out...horse poo that is too wet will not colonize well...and or get bacterial contams.

What are you thinking about doing for air exchange? I was thinking about doing the same thing eventually and either using a cool mist or use the air stone in a glass that is attatched to the side of the terrarium some how. I guess that could be a problem if anything grew directly underneath it?

Good luck, man! Let us know how it goes!

Probably won't need the Tit depending on the type of strain you are using. Alot of vigorous straings (cambo's, many of the Thai strains) will raise temps near the 80s when colonizing.
