advice on which tenn stud to get plz

hey all. well my jars are about done colonizing. im planning on ordering tenn stud prepaturized stuff. this will be my first bulk grow. im wondering if i should get the pasturized poo or the 50/50poo straw. i heard straw can contam easy so do u think i should play it safe? or is the tenn stud stuff pretty reliable against that happening? if i use the straw poo will i not need to worry about moisture? i heard they have it prepared for u ready to go, no water needed to add. should i just spawn my jars to it(after dunking i presume) straight out of the bag, or will i need to add verm?
another thing is im gonna be using 6 jars to spawn to a 5 lb bag instead of 8 jars, 'cause i had some jars that didnt make it. im gonna split the 5lb stuff into 2 separate platsic containers which resemble the size agar seems to prefer. the substrate should be 4 inches high in each container. so 3 jars in each. will that be enough spawn u think?

i use straight :poop: from tenn stud.
there is no concern about moisture with the PP; it is perfect!
i don't think you need to dunk your spawn. i would, however, break up your cakes in a ziploc quite some time prior to spawning them. couldn't see more than a day or so being necessary.
you add vermiculite when you pasteurize it yourself. this stuff is ready to go. just dump in the :poop:, then the spawn- mix well and voila.
easier then hamburger helper.

the twenty-five% rule of thumb (app. 2qts to 5lbs) is to make sure that it colonizes quickly and that you get a nice yield.
your results may vary with a lesser ratio, but if it's the first time with the H, you'll hardly notice.

Tenn Stud is some quality shit. my avitar will support this claim.

I like the 50/50 poo straw.... better consitancy for my usage.
Either way both are good.

have you ever done straight straw?

it sucks!~

50/50 is way better than straight straw.

and 100% horse poo is better than 50/50.

i use a very limited amount of spawn. Like 2 pints to 5lbs of poo. I know this is not what is recommended but spawn is in short supply currently. And with the 50/50 it colonizes in about 5 days. I should probly up my spawn for the denser substrate of just poo.
What charecteristics of the grow do you see change from one to the other (50/50 vs 100% poo).

5 to 1 spawn ratio or better...always works best.

If you fluff the poo up a little it will colonize faster.

Larger and more potent muchrooms from the 100% horse poo.

Well with straight h/poo...I add about 10% straw (chopped in a blender), 20% coir, 15% verm, 15% worm castings. With 20%ish spawn rate It's done in 5-7 days (depending on when you call it done...I like to give it a few days after it looks done to solidify it).

Straw is just not that good of an ingredient to have. Colonization times are great and over all poo is just better for the flushes IME.

Left is my mix (with actually probably only 5% straw), right is straigh h/poo mixed with about 20% verm. 1 quart of spawn per (was running short), and were cased on day 7...times were steadily nice too at each stage.



These would have been better flushes if they hadnt dried out and been a bit neglected a bit and coir based casing...

ok so i think ill go with straight poo 'cause i respect all of u who recomend it and i realize u guys r the pro's. so let me get this straight:
im gonna put my cakes in a blender and then mix them in with the poo. i dont dunk my cakes but i let them sit in a plastic bag over night?
because im using tenn stud pre pasturized poo i dont have to add verm or water right, just mix in the spawn and incubate?
