Syringe Needle Sterilization

any suggestions for how to sterilize a previously used syringe needle when preparing a new spore syringe? Seen posts and notes about sterilizing the actual syringe in boiling water, but never any mention about the needles.

Flame it with a clean flame (alcohol etc.) until it glows red and then swab it with alcohol.

well, that's what we do when it comes to inoculation, but we're wondering if it would have the same effectiveness for a needle that was used monthes ago that may have old, rotted spores in it.
Perhaps running alcolhol through the needle may help. That is, sucking it in and squirting it out again.

this is what i do:
get some boiling distilled water, and suck up water into the syringe and push it back out a few times, untill you think it is clean. then wait a moment (for all the dirt and shit to either die or go to the bottom) and then suck up the water into the syringe and leave it in there. then throw the whole syrige into the water and let it sit for a few moments. take it out, alchohal sterilize the needle, put on the cover and then you have a clean syringe, with clean water to make spore syringe with.
it begins with an "m" and ends with an "ushroom"

What I do is boil some distilled water...fill the syringe up with the boiling water (careful!) and squirt it into the sink. Then I suck up some alcohol, let it sit for about a minute, and squirt that out. Then I suck up the boiling water and squirt it out and repeat about three or four times, (to make sure all the alcohol is gone) the last time I let the water sit in there for about a minute so that it kills anything that may be in there.
Hey...it might be overkill but at least you wont get any contaminated syringes.

yeah you can. it gets black shit on it sometimes so wipe it with alcohol afterward. i do this and i used to also use teh flame from teh stove where the water was boiling until i realized how hot it was down there and i melted the metal tip right off the syringe. i used to use a home-made syringe from a pharmacy oral syringe with 1/16 brass tubing for an innoc needle and i would flame that with stove flame because that one was like 6-7" long (the metal needle) but when i did iti with the ones i got from sporeworks they were much shorter and melted pretty fast :) anyway, yeah lighters work.

i used to use a lighter to sterilize the needle tip after every jar that i innoculated, but then that leaves some (i thinks its a carbon) residue which makes it look dirty. then i just started swiping it with this little white pad thing that i dipped in rubbing alchohal. what im getting at is you can use a lighter or just alchohal to sterilize the needle tip during innoculation, but when you need to get all the little spores that got stuck to the sides of the syringe, and then got pushed down and are now stuck to the pusher and the bottom part of the syringe, it is always better to get it cleaned out with some boiling disrilled water.

ive read here that bic lighters will leave that residue, but if you get a butane lighter (like, those torch lighters they use for lighting cigars, ive read that flame)... those wont leave the nasty black (which is easily removed with an alcohol pad). but they are more expensive (prolly about 10-12$ at a cigarette shop)-

And I just use a beaker, partially filled with isoproponal as a syringe rest/dip.
