Does anyone know how to make rye fruit as you would a cake... Let me explain.... I like making quart jars of rye, and have never had a problem with contam... but my problem is getting the casing to fruit completely without losing it to contam. Does anyone know how to possibly just plop down a pile of colonized rye and let it fruit like a cake? Any suggestions would be very helpful.
Shroomz... the only reason George Clinton sees the Mothership.

wow, im in teh exact opposite boat. i cant get a jar to grow at all, but my first casing colonized in 3 days. mix youre rye with finch seed and case it with peat moss/vermiculate. however you humidify (perlite, misting/humidifier) mix 50/50 peroxide with it and contams wont be an issue.

Well once I had two jars of rye that were colonizing very slowly, so I tossed them in the closet and forgot about them. I thought that bacteria must have gotten the better of them. Then I went in about a month later and saw that they were both fully colonized so I figured what the hell might as well give them some air and opened the lids and set them on my windowsill. (Next to an exhaust fan that points out the window might I add) A couple days later I got home from work and saw both jars overflowing with mushrooms. So you can definetely grow them in the jar. But as far as fruiting it like a cake...I'm sure that would work too...you'd have to use wide-mouth jars though.
