I picked all my food for two yearts- kudzu, mushrooms, wild carrots and potato sp., and then there were the wild turkeys... but in all seriousness- get a Sams club thing going and get this at the beginning of every month-
1. 5lb cheddar block
2. 5lb Cherios box
3. 5gallons of cheap wine
4. 5 dozen potatoes
5. 1 gallon of olive oil
6. As much milk as comes in a case
7. 5lb buter tub (%75 veg. oil preferable)
8. Bag of apples
9. 50 canned green beans

Less than 100 bucks and really quick prep if you ask me.

Yup, shoot a deer, buy 50lbs of rice, a veggie steamer and refill your fridge with fresh fruits and veggies once a week. It's plenty cheap.

kadakuka-eggies are often cheap. in addition to the above, try and find a butcher or a hunter and get cheap meats. 1 deer will last a good while.

Probablly the most amusing thing ive heard in a long ass time!!!

A fuckin deer!!!! hahahahahhahahaha

Dunno if your into nutrition, so Ill elaborate in general:
Your body needs energie in general to work. Energie in food is mostly: Fat, Carbohydrates, and Sugar. Fat has the most energie per mass. It is complex, and stored in your body almost instantly. Sugar on the contary stays in your blood longer, but doesnt have a high glucose index (d.i.y translation). This means, that it doesnt keep you "full" for very long. And you will want to eat again a lot quicker after having eaten the same amount of sugar compared to the other two. Too much fat is unhealthy too, as it doesnt stay in your blood to be used for energie replenishment after a meal.It makes you tired and fat.
Carbohydrates should be the main part of a cheap meal. They are cheap and keep "hunger locked up till lunch" (Some british advert I remember for my infant years   )
Pasta and Grains are good carbohydrate carriers.
Proteines are used to build up mustles. Your brain is a mustle and thus needs loads of em. (When you study they are essentiell) They are contained in fish and meat.If you are veggie, beans and cheese contain them.
Good cheap meals are spaghetti, with beef.
You need vitamines too though! Apples are cheap, and carottes are affordable vegtables.
The bottom line: Go high on carbohydrates as they are cheap, keep you stuffed and are healthy. But you need a bit of the rest too.
If it has to be fastfood, go kebab. (Cheapest fastfood around here too)Asian stuff is ok too, but often very fatty.
If your really broke, ive lived of tin macaronis for 3 weeks. (Cost like 50 euro cents a tin).
A good, and not to be underrated tip is the following: If you have an old lonely lady in your house, go ask her if you can get her shopping or fix stuff in her house. She will most certainly ask you over for lunch. Just be nice and talk about stuff with her and she?ll feed you through!
Getting togeter with other students to cook is also great. Buying for more people is usually cheaper and prevents you having to eat the same for days.
Good luck!
If all that doesnt help, you can always live on milk for a certain amount of time too! (Got a friend in Adam, who try this tek for 2 months)
If you do ever find yourself at a point of now return: Post here and maybe we can donate food.  - If its not all that bad, stick to the pasta.

cook pasta (the tube kind or spirals)
mix 1 can of condensed mushroom soup with
1 can drained tuna( the sandwich one in oil is better) and
1 cup of shredded cheddar and heat on med till heated thru...then mix in drained pasta and season with salt/pepper
spread it all into in a casserole dish...sprinkle with another cup of cheese...throw in the oven till cheese bubbles
serve

thats the basic...you can add veges like peas and spinache thru it too

this is one of the best tasting things for little effort(easy as)there is

ps i hate tuna pasta but my kids dont

another really simple cheap dish is spiral pasta mixed with some mayo served cold

Haha wicked! I've been looking for a good repository of cheap
"bachelor chow" recipes, and my search ends up reinforcing my worst
addiction: The Shroomery.

Great Post!

Usually I have my girl make me a tupperware full of chicken fried rice once a week, and on the off days I eat tostino's pizzas or potatoes!

Get a nice big bag of pasta (any type you like) and a few jars of Spaghetti sauce (I think Preggo's is the best) and a think of parmesan cheese.

Fills you up, is good for you, and can be prepared in under 10 minutes...

Cheese and crackers also...

Like people were saying, some canned tuna, mayo and bread is all very cheap. Buy the huge boxes of cereal at a costco, BJs or Sams Club and just surf around those stores, you'll find something that fulfills your needs.
