Why so strict?
    #4012027 -

Why does every one get so anal about posts in a forum. Some hot head locked a guy's thread for asking a simple hunting question. I can see if he was being an ass or somthing, but come on .

drugs are a very delicate subject...some wrong advice and someone could end up in hospital or prison.

The rules to the site are plainly laid out for anyone to read, that's why.

Aside from safety & law..

Think of the Shroomery as a treasure trove of information. Its a bit like a filing cabinet. Every forum is a drawer. To remain transparant and keep forums retaining their own flavors we must insist on rules and some strictness as to what goes where.

This thread could be filed under P for Pub, for instance.

I wouldn't say we're extra strict or anything, everyone does have to read the rules before they register. A lot of it is common sense, what forum was this thread in? If it was in the wrong forum it would have been moved. If it violated a hunting forum rule (asked for specific locations, etc.) then a lock would be in order.

Got a question about a substance?  Erowid might already have your answer! Have questions about the  mushroom experience? The  Tripper's FAQ may have your answer or someone else might have had your question before.

how am I a hot head for locking a redundant texas thread?

I think I do a good job, and haven't heard many people complain about the way I handle the hunting forum.  when I do, it's always people with few posts who aren't familiar with how the forum runs.

if you think I do a bad job or disagree with something I did, tell me and explain yourself.  I'm not unreasonable, and I don't lock threads to make myself feel good, I do it to keep the forum worth reading for everyone and try to be consistent in how I apply the rules.

yeah but look at the quality of the Shroomery.
We don't get a lot of spammers. And this board is far more liberal than most...
But no rules equals madness. We are not perfect, but the people that keep this site running do their best to maintain the integrity of the site with the community at heart and I think they do an excellent job. I've never stayed at any other message board consistently for 5+ years.. have you?

have you ever tried searching by a key word for a post you read last month, 100
threads about the weather in texas or what mushrooms are found in a certain area
is quite nerve racking

"are the shrooms up in alabama"
"Hey, is anyone finding shrooms in huntsville"
"I've not found any shrooms in N. Al, how about you guys"
"Alabama shroomers, have you found some shrooms yet"
