Terrarium woes
    #400189 - 09/21/01 04:17 PM (22 years, 6 months ago)

my problem is this. My terrarium is made out of a large plasttic drawer (with custom plexi-glass lid) kept in my closet with perlite on the bottom (about an inch, maybe a little more). The perlite is thoroughly saturated, and there is a flourescent light that is kept on a 12/12 cycle glued to the plexi glass. Here is the problem:

The temp is 81 at all times even though the room is much cooler, and the humidity is at 89 (both measured by a radio shack hygrometer). What can I do to cool the temp down short of an ice bath, and the humidity up short of an ultra-sonic humidifyer? ANy and all help is appreciated.

Don't change a thing. You're all set to fruit.

Ya, you should try to lower the temp a bit to induce fruiting. About 70 is nice and basic room temp is around 70 unless you live somewheres hot. Whats your room temp?
You really don't need that flourescent light on so long, that is prolly where most of your heat is coming from. Try just turning it on for a couple hours.
