A friend at work raises "paints' and has stables. I scored some of last years dry crap from the stables. Looks perfect ,nice and dry &full of straw and not green or steamy Also have 2 quart jars of bird seed spawn "Mazapatec" strain ready to crumble. Should i mix the spawn into the pastuerized horse shit? Or do I case the spawn on top? Thanks in advance

Guarantee you I will post pics I have a good feeling about this Mazapatec is agressive .... I have a tupperware with bird seed spawn and worm castings at day 5 and it`s almost totally infiltrated the top layer i`ll post pics of those too.....I bet the Horse shit will be even more powerful growth and more fantastic flushes. can`t wait

I have personally mixed my spawn with my dung, rather than casing the spawn with the dung. It has worked fine so far, but the other method you question sounds like it may be an overall better option. http://www.3mshrooms.homestead.com/dungtek.html is the tek that I was looking at. It seems that this method would be more beneficial than mixing the birdseed with the dung, because the birdseed which has potential to produce many flushes would be discarded in the mixing method before it was fully used. The casing/ removal of dung/ re-caseing would allow the mycelium to use more of the birdseeds potential. Also only the more aggressive strains would reach the surface of the casing first, compared to many different strains already being across the top, and some that are on the bottom wouldn't even have the oppurtunity to frut. All of this is assuming that you are using a multispore inocculation rather than a single genetically identical individual.
