Well, I haven't had any luck at finding many actives, but these have been some consolation! Last night I made homemade fettucini alfredo with chicken and morels YUmmm
I found these today:

I want *more* cyans to grow here! You can find dried morels in some stores, not sure if they taste as good when they're reconstituted.

Thanks all! I'm going out today to see if I can find more(ls). It rained all night, so that's good. I found the first one right in my yard and that made me search for more elsewhere. Here's a macro pic I took of that one:
I just wonder if cyans grow in N. Cali this time of year. I know fall is the season, but it doesn't really get cold here. The weather is the same as in the fall.

I just wonder if it's a fluke or if I'll find more.
Here's what I had for dinner:
Now I need to try them with something besides chicken. Any good recipes for morel gravies or sauces?

Goddamn that looks delicious.
Here's some recipes. The morels in wine sauce sounds damn good, and there's a morel gravy recipe.

I am sure there are some cyans popping up due to the warm weather then the change to cold but the ods on finding them are very slim. Its the change from warm and dry to cold and wet that triggers them to fruit.Since you are in the humboldt county you should fire up an azure bed.

Err... my cyan patches have been fruiting recently... not as vigorous as in the fall, but enough for me and some friends to go to the moon every other weekend.

Hey Catalyst,
Nice find! I'm gonna check on the cyans, too. Run out to the dunes... I've been wondering the same thing. Last time I found cyans was late December, but the weather up here (rarely gets cold) and the fact that the cyans are atypical (grow in dune grass vs. alder chips), makes me wonder if they might have more surprises in store.
Take care, Bob

Yeah, I was out at the dunes yesterday. I want to try to make it out tomorrow if I can. The dead grass layers didn't look wet enough. But it doesn't hurt to look. You've certainly had much more luck than me in your cyan hunting.
On a side note, my wife and I enjoyed some cubensis at a secluded beach today. It was the first time since we moved here several months ago. It was an amazing and religious experience! I'll have to post some pics in the Trip Report forum.
