Parent found i smoke pot

Well as of yesterday my parents know i smoke pot the county court sent a letter to my parents address which the address still on my license should have changed that long ago but anyway it was about me having to go to court for paraphernalia ticket i got a couple weeks ago. Get this though my dad is forcing me to go fishing with him this weekend he says we got to talk and spend more time together. I been stressing pretty hard about going back home this weekend but i dont think it will be as bad as i think.

Well. You're fine. You're an adult. Your dad's probably a good guy, judging only by the fact that he wants to go fishing with you.

You absolutely cannot let something as pithy as pot smoking get in the way of your family relationship! Family is awesome and you and I are lucky to have em.

Be frank with your father about your opinions. He's not going to accept them, but you're still his son. Everything will be smooth, most likely.

Go fishing with him and just be honest. Don't be his enemy on this. He just wants reassurance that he isn't a bad dad. Don't let any arguments happen, and he'll respect your decisions. Or maybe he just wants you to hook him up.

i wish but it would probally be the other way around my dad is very anti-drug and my mom is open-minded about most stuff.

:shrug: I "came out" to my parents about my drug use this Christmas and it went over a lot better than I thought it would - and it FEELS great.

Heh.  Reminded me of my brother.

We grew up in a very religious house where even alcohol was considered a sin.  One day my when my brother was about 20 years old he sat my Dad down at the kitchen table and said "Dad, I think its time we get to know each other again."  He then proceeded to lay down an ounce of weed and a sheet of acid in front of my Dad. :eek:

Dad was actually pretty cool about it.

Generally things of this nature aren't worth stressing over. When I told my mother I smoked cigarettes I was completely worried that she'd freak out, but all she did was say "you know I don't condone this, but you're an adult and you can do with your life as you please." no big deal. And now I don't have to try to sneak away from family functions just to go have a cig. Good luck.
