What type of wood chips? Bark no, shreaded lumber yes. Cedar chips no, Playground mulch yes. If you live in the right area then grow some cyans or azures

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

I don't know if there's an official tek perse but I've been having great success with oyster mushrooms on wood chips. I'm using BRF-PF cakes sitting on wood chips. The wood chips are about a half inch thick over pearlite in a rubbermaid container. The cakes are nestled into the chips and fruiting nicely. The mycelium has made it's way through the chips as well. I think it would have been better to crumble the cakes onto the chips and put another thin layer on top. I don't see why this wouldn't work for other kinds of mushrooms.
Good luck!

The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum - even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense that there's free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate
