STRAW / WOOD CHIPS

Faof , is planning to inculate a 3-pound brick of timothy hay this weekend . She will be useing rye grain spawn , she also has wood chips , would it be worth while to mix the hay and wood chips . She will be incubating in a plastic bag , it can stay out side the incubator if heat would be an issue . Has any one had good results with this ...

Depends on what type of mushrooms you're growing.

If your going to grow Psilocybe Cubensis, wood chips would not be needed.

Another note, you shouldn't be using Timothy Hay. Hay contains a lot of seeds and buds which COULD contain contamination. I've heard through many people that it is just a waste of time, you need to buy WHEAT STRAW, not HAY.

You will probably fail using the hay, so try to find yourself wheat straw.
