Can cubs be cultivated using wood chips as a substrate?
    #2415032 - 03/10/04 12:36 PM (19 years, 11 months ago)

reason I ask is that I have a bunch of wood chips that are pre sterilized at the gas station across the street from my house and I was wonderin if I could use some for my outdoor patch. like spawn some rye to the wood chips. If cubs cant im definatly going to do some pan cyans and try some azures too!!

They can, but the chips are not the ideal substrate. I'd suggest using the chips for a woodlover bed. If you know how to use agar or want to try to germinate some spores on cardboard, I'll send you a psilly woodlover print for free.

Cubensis lack the enzymes to exploit a lignious (woodchip) substrate - without any other nutrients to suppliment a lignious substrate i doubt it would fruit and if so, it would be very poor...
There are a number of woodlovers - azurescens, cyanescens and subaeruginosa are all quite easily cultivated... And are easily three times more potent than cubensis by weight...
