colonizing azurescen wood chips

I want to grow some azurescens outdoors but I don't get what to do once I have all the supplies. All the tutorials always start with colonized woodchips, so how do I make the chips colonized?

I would imagine that you would spawn them.

You make a rye , or whateve-you-like substrate and inoculate. Once that has clolnized , you can spawn the woddchips with it.

would I just do PFTek but with birdseed or rye substituted for verm and then what? I don't understand what the process of spawning is, and how would I spawn it onto wet cardboard, could I do all this outside?

you can use pint/quart jars of woodchips(soaked to capacity) mixed with a little grain meal/flower sterilized, colonized then spawned to more wood chips. with this method there is less grain and thus less chance of contamination.

So here is my plan: Inoculate some bird seed or rye jars with azurescen spores When the cake is fully colonized I take it out and crumble it up I distribute a bag or perlite into a hole I've dug I throw the cake chunks on top of the perlite I cover that with cardboard that has been soaked overnight Once the cardboard is colonized I cover it with alder woodchips Cover with a thin layer of soil Mushrooms grow I eat them
If this is wrong then i don't understand how I inoculate chips with the rye spawn...

that should work fine, the method i suggested was merely to reduce the risk of contamination and the risk of animal pests (like squirrels) disturbing your beds since there's less grain involved(grain contams more easily than wood and pests seem to like it better). wichever method you choose it should work out alright, good luck.
