Isnt the placebo or "little buzz" hyper-ventilating? I swear i heard someone smart like mushroom man John (whatever his name is) say that.
Try smoking some dried banana peels probably get the same buzz.. save yourself some shrooms too

Yea, when I first read "The Teachings of Don Juan" I was slightly confused when part of the "smoke" mixture was psilocybe mexicana mushrooms (or however you spell it). According to Don Juan it was one of the major components. There was all kinds of other stuff in there too, and it took forever to prepare, maybe the mushrooms kind of blended with everything else. I dont know where I'm going with this so I'm just gonna say, smoke em if you like. If you're payin' for em, I couldn't care less if you waste your money (no offense).

Edit: Oh, and one other thing...whenever they took a hit of the "smoke" part of the mixture left a coating in their mouth, if I remember correctly. The psilocybin could have obsorbed in the mouth.

Just because it's in a book, doesn't make it true either. Most people consider it a work of fiction.

There should be a penalty for mentioning smoking shrooms - that and mentioning the LSD orange juice myth - they crop up every fucking week!

That book was written to appear that way, but it is in truth fiction. You sure it is not A Separate Reality? That is the next book in the series and I am pretty sure that is where the major mushroom smoking takes place. It seemed the mushroom mixture was also inhaled as well as smoked, but alas, it came out that Carlos Castenada was not writing truth. Maybe an expanded version of the truth or a wild tale, whatever it was, the books were incredibly captivating. One of the best narrative style psychedelic books I have read before, too bad its not true. :blush:

And smoking mushrooms is not good for you, would you like to pull fungus into your lungs? That is what you are doing. I don't think the fungus has any place in your lungs, that is unless you want to develop some kind of lung infection.

My friends and I had several grams of dried mushroom powder from out left over grow, one day we tried to smoke it to see if any effect. Like all say before, small placebo effect at most. Plus it tastes like shit and mushrooms are not something you use to manipulate a trip out of them. They will burn you when you really take a dose for that one.

ok, from experience, it does work. BUT you will have to smoke the same amount you would want to eat. that's not fun, it tastes bad. very bad. and they burn SOO slow, it's not even funny.

most likely, you won't trip off of a bowl, smoked or if you eat a bowls worth, unless your bowl holds like an 1/8, but how many do?

my verdict, don't do it. it is far easier to eat them.

Yeah I had to grind up 4 bowls, all about 1gram each, and rip them back to back outa the waterpipe to get any effect.  It was interesting enough -- but I was already at threashold.  Everything went very crazy for bout 20 min, but went away fast and I was grillin' as hard as I was before I hit the waterpipe.

As once said before, do you REALLY want to inhale fungi into your lungs?? If 30 people saying that it doesn't work nearly as good, if at all, then the fact of inhaling fungi should be a big enough turnoff from smoking mushrooms. Put them on a peanutbutter sandwich or something, that's what I always do. Peace.

Yes smoknig shrooms does work ive done this several times
it makes me very giggly for like 30 minutes after smoknig 1 bowl of them.. the taste is nasty.. if u want to trip just eat them ahaha but when your low on shroomies smoke a cuple bowls of them and mix some pot in there and you got your self a pretty fun Night

i one smoked a HUGE joint mixed with cannabis and shrooms (personally i wouldn't waste em like that, but it wasn't mine and he was smoking me out) anyways i did feel a slight difference than normal weed.. i wouldn't recommend doing it.. but if you're really curios give it a try
