Guitar Pickups Question- Electronics
    #3926720 - 03/16/05 07:02 PM (12 years, 6 months ago)

I have often put my cell phone earpiece up to the pickups of my guitar to amplify the sound for fun. Why does it amplify this sound just fine but can not pick up voices or most any other sound? I know there are certain pickups that do allow one to do this, but those are a different story. With this in mind, would playing a regular acoustic (metal strings) right next to a plugged in electric work (as far as being amplified)?

maybe because its not the sound its reacting to, but the vibrating metal.

if you could get the pickups really really close to the other guitar, at which point it would be pretty unplayable, and they were sensitive to the material, then yeah, youd probably hear something

The guitar picks up your cellphone because of the magnets in the phone. Humbuckers can pick up voice but you have to be really really close to the pick up and scream really loud.
