Is that a fact? What sort of signal should I use?

My friend has one of these. I've never tried it out though. There's just something very unsettling to me about using a machine to mess with my brain waves. Are these things really safe to use? What in the hell are they used for anyway? (besides the strobe visuals)

Here's something I found on the usenet...
Shakti Lite a dangerous device Here is a bibliography of Persingers "research"... If Persinger can take a break from testing his "highly accurate" remote viewing psychics, have them see which finger I'm holding up. There are 72 citations, all of which fit into one of the following categories: (all lifted directly from the titles) UFOs, PSI, fingerprint personality tests, the paranormal, telepathy, poltergeists, card-guessing, phantasms, precognition, UFO related cancer, apparitions, dream telepathy, clairvoyance, ESP, Ego-Alien Intrusions, abduction experiences, visitation experiences, cognitive influence at a distance, past lives, remote viewing, and the artist Ingo Swann. -Jake ---------------------------------------------- Persinger MA, Roll WG, Tiller SG, Koren SA, Cook CM. I read an article in scientific american a while back on transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Pretty fascinating stuff. Studies have shown that by stimulating certain areas of the prefrontal cortex, subjects are able to solve geometric puzzles more rapidly. Stimulate other areas, and people become more alert. Stimulating areas involved in speech control caused subjects to temporarily be unable to speak. Lots of potential with this stuff, the main limitation though is that it can only be applied to areas on the surface of the brain.
