get the dead box set it has 5 cds that has ever generation...or if you dont want to spend that kind of money..one from the valt-it has on it..intro-help on the way-franklins tower-the music never stoped-it must have been the roses--eyes of the worl-king solomon's marbles-around and around---2nd cd--sugraree-big river-crazyfinger/drums-the other one--sage and sprit--u.s blues---blues for allah..i think this is a dope cd with a bunch of groovy tunes :tongue2:

--------------------
"Six words: drop out, turn on, then come back and tune it in -and then drop out again, and turn on, and tune it back in-it's a rhythm- most of us think God made this universe in nature-subject object-predicate sentences-turn on, tune in, drop out- period, end of paragraph. Turn the page- it's all a rhythm- it's all a beat. You turn on, you find it inside, and then you have to come back (since you can't stay high all the time) and you have to build a better model. But don't get caught - don't get hooked - don't get attracted by the thing you're building, cause... you gotta drop out again. It's a cycle. Turn on, tune in, drop out. Keep it going, keep it going- the nervous system works that way. gotta keep it flowing- keep it flowing.

i first heard "skeltons from the closet" and i have to say, it's a good one to get into them with, but it's almost totaly not more than 20% the full experience, but very good to get into them with... it's the "greatest hits" or so they say, but they left off a bunch of stuff...  it's more the mainstream, for those who cant just take the plunge right into everything...

then workinmans dead, american beauty, grateful dead (the first album), "The grateful dead (skull and roses)... not in any particular order

i especialy liked skull and roses early on, it helped on the live side of things, to get into the dead as they more known for.  i'm gonna listen to taht one right now

In the Dark, as it contains the only song that reached #1 on the main charts, making it reknowned.

1 song doest make the album. I've seen more people with skeletons from the closet than any other dead album.

if you want to hear the dead doing what they do best, go for europe 72'. the band seems to be in its prime. no studio album will match the energy found in europe 72'.

All of these suggestions are great. I think that I am going to have to go with One From the Vault. That is what turned me on to The Dead years ago.
