Regenerating crops using neglect tek

Alright, so it's obvious you can't make spore prints using the neglect tek. Anyone got any ideas on how to go about starting a new crop without having to obtain another syringe? What about taking part of a colonized, healthy cake and putting it in a freshly prepared substrate jar? Would the mycelium start to feed off the new stuff, thus eliminating the need for innoculation?

its possible to use a colonized pf cake to colonize a quart (grain) jar. but im not sure how youd manage this with the pf tek... also, a cake that has already fruited is far less able to recover and colonize a grain jar... if you found out how to use a pf jar to colonize a pf jar, youd be better off using one that had not flushed already. thats a drawback to the neglect tek- you will most likely always be *tied* to a syringe. but making a syringe isnt hard (check out the fsr) esp when compared to the hassle of trying to figure out how to use a cake to colonize a pf style jar for the neglct tek ::grin::

im not at all familiar with the neglect tek, i should have read it before posting this but heres what i have to say. if the tek infolves harvesting carpophores (the mushroom itself) which it probably doesnt seeing as how you say you cannot make a sporeprint, then your best bet is get some of the mycellum from the cake/pan whatever, heat an exacto knife till red hot with your stove and slice out a few small portions of the INSIDE of the mycellum. not too big, like matchhead-sized or smaller and drop them in a totally sealed and sterile jar of honey/water mixture of approx. 1/5. regular canning jars work great (no holes in the lid is good for shaking- shake this mixture every day after you start it) keep the jar only halfway filled with liquid as you still want a supply of O2 that wont run out in a day. how it works: the mycellum grows on the dissolved honey and starts to form a myc. network. when you shake it up it breaks it all apart, creating more of them, and they continue to do so. eventually the water becomes very murky and cloudy with mycellum, take an empty syringe and suck it in there. if it clogs, shoot some out to clear it and try again. get hundreds of syringes by adding more honey/water to it, innoculate anything with this stuff it will grow much faster since you dont need 2 wait for spores to germinate; the mycellum is already at growth stage. will also reduce colonization times.

1/50 is more like it for the honeywater. Also, give your sample a one minute bath before dropping it in the honeywater. Work clean if you want this to work.

puscle: you say to give the sample a one minute bath. Do you mean the sample the I cut from the original cake? Also, what do you mean by "bath?" Just cut the sample out and throw it in some water? By the way, thanks for your helpful responses guys. It's nice to see that in the midst of an epic tragedy I can still rely on my mycelial bretheren for sage advice. =)

wow, my mistake. i didnt realize i should have such a diluted mixture in this. i ahve 6 petri dished with 3 diff strains, ps cubensis, ps cyanescens, and 2 myc. cultures i gathered from wild unidentified sghrooms. think the ps ones will germinate and grow with that potent mixture?
