1-I usually do it for at least 6 hours.
2-Probably. How are you humidifying?
3-Do you mean styrofoam?
4-Yes, as long as you spray about 10-15 spurts each morning (for a perlite humidfied sterlite container anyway, volume about 5-10gallons (prolly closer to 5).

I have used styrophome coolers. Cut the middle part of the top out, and tape in some seran wrap. Mine are not air tight, and work well.
I do normal verm casings in them with no extra humidity. I spray the verm layer 1 time a day if it is not pinning and if it is pinning or growing shrooms, i spray the container sides. Works decent enough to feed my friends.
