i mostly concerned with this user becoming
an established member. someone who doesnt
know this guy is a cop and is influenced by
regdate & postcount thinking this guy has credability
amongst our users sets up a trade or something of the like.
or even worse, attends a gathering.
that would be disasterous for the shroomery if a shroomery function were to be busted.
especially if the media were to get involved.
that would be really fucked if a gathering were busted while
everyone was trippin :mushroom2:

yeah its all speculation, but it just doesnt sit well
knowing that the admins would allow a cop to roam as he pleases.

once again, its not oging to be an out in the open cop who is going to do this. i personally wouldnt have any problem with him  being at a gathering, i think that it would be a good expierence for him to be there and see that what we do harms no one.
however i would make sure all of the other members that were gathering felt allright with this before he came, and im sure he would want the same concensus.

also look over at overgrow and see how much cops have helped people with their legal issues and questions aobut the laws and WOD. last time i checked ex-cop and a few others were great valuable resources, and we should recognise black sheep as one and welcome him into the comunity.

I definitely understand where you are coming from.

The problem is, he came here because he WANTED to help protect a friend, and instead of getting ANYONE in trouble, he worked with the Admins to come up with an effective, and peaceful solution. The trouble was stopped, one person was banned, and NOW another of the troublemakers is demanding he leave.

I see your point, but you must see the Admins. TBS came here to stop a potential legal issue from surfacing. One of the biggest crybabies is the guy who caused the harassment problem in the first place. In other words,the person who caused the cops to come, is now one of the folks demanding they leave.

I'm just guessing here, but I suspect some of the Admins like the fact this guy is here right now, because it keeps the troublemakers in check (I am not calling you a troublemaker 40).

As far as I know, TBS hasn't shown anyone his badge in here, he may not even be who he says he is.

So, the Admins, for reasons they have stated in this thread are letting TBS stay. You don't have to like it. You bring up solid points... but it isn't your website... nor is it mine (Although I don't mind TBS's presence... I find it is worse to watch members be HARASSED than it is to peacefully put an end to harassment.). TBS quickly, and politely, helped the Admins solve a tricky problem. Remember, the Admins can allow anyone they wish to be here, be here.

People say, "If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen." I'm not saying you should leave, I just mean The Shroomery is a HOT website. This shouldn't surprise anyone. If it isn't for you, it isn't for you.

However, The Shroomery is also, a fucking cool and (usually peaceful) virtual commune. I can't blame someone from staying once they get a feel for the place.

I suppose, if you fail at getting him banned, you can always ignore him in the future. Most Shroomerites stay for a while, then leave. He could become bored, if he is no longer the center of attention.

I don't blame him for wanting to stay.

I don't blame the Admin for letting him stay.

I don't blame you, or others for being wary of a cop's presence. Cops are (or have been) a big obstacle for many at this Website.

This is just another interesting subject worth discussing, brought to you by your favorite virtual commune, The Shroomery.

and the anonymousness of the interent, of course we arent

From my limited conversations with him, he seems like an upstanding guy. I don't think I would attend a gathering if he was going, but I have no problems with him being here.

What boggles my mind is that someone requested police action to deal with trolling in OTD? Wtf is that all about?

if he did come here to bust members:

1. he probably wouldn't have announced his presence.
2. he can't bust you if you use common sense (ie. don't post anything incriminating or use a secure connection if you absolutely must post evidence)
3. he probably wouldn't be the least bit helpful to the admins or anybody else here.
