 old shrooms-how much to take?

okay, please enlighten me some:
i've grown shrooms (amazonian strain cubs) quite some time ago. i don't even know how long ago myself, well over a year i guess. i actually asked before (http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Forum2&Number=56178&Forum=All_Forums&Words=ykk&Match=Username&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Old=allposts&Main=56178) but that was some time ago and these are the same shrooms. would you take twice as much, four times as much? i'm planning on tripping alone and i'm just looking for some enhancements to enjoy myself and figure some stuff out about my future. no total-mindfuck. so somebody please chip in on how much psilocybin is expected to be lost (shrooms are cracker-dry and stored in ziplocks in a tupperware in a below-room-temp and dark closet). i don't want to be feeling nothing, but i don't want to eat 6 grams and then find out that there was no potency loss after all.

I would suspect not much loss, since they've been stored properly. MJ recently posted about some liberty caps had been stored in the British Museum for over 100 YEARS--chemical analysis showed levels of active principles comparable to recently picked & dried specimens.

i and my friends don't have that kind of patience. liberty caps are said to store much better because of ratio of psilocin to psilocybin

uhm, so what about me eating maybe 2 grams (when i wanted to trip on a equal of 1.5 grams fresh) and then eating more after an hour or so. gotta read up on that though, i think loading up later into the trip is not really working or whatever. or would you double (3grams) or...sigh.

Personally... I think all this loss of potency shit is not true... I'm sure the alkaloids denature to a certain degree over time, but I took some shrooms about a month ago that had been in a sandwich bag, wrapped up (very shakey shrooms mind you, they were the bottom of a HP) and in a small safe (which was opened daily) and had been lying there for a good 10 months, not 100% sealed or airtight... I ate ~2.3g of these shrooms and tripped my BALLS off, I actually had some of the best visuals on these shrooms than many freshly dried shrooms I have eaten (no, they werent pan trops/cyans)... It seemed I had less of a mind fuck too... so I dunno, personally I don't believe the whole losing potency thing, but thats just me... maybe its just extreme heat and light that cause the alkaloids to decompose...

okay, so i guess i will expect minimal loss, ingest 1.5, maybe 2 grams. that should do for an introspective kinda trip, don't ya think?
that, btw, is one cool thought: could it be that shrooms-like wine-get better the older they get (if properly stored). could it be that the alkaloids-ratio changes cause even nicer trips. "woow, dude, try those: '97 amazonians. that was a good year..." eh.
oh, anyone know with which keyword i should dig up some posts on eating more shrooms after you're already trippin (in case it did lose potency)?

I too considered this... there are MANY alkaloids in small amounts in shrooms (if you've ever looked at a mass spectrograph of psilocybe cubensis you will find at least 30 alkaloids as I recall)... so maybe the other ones die down (even psilocin/baeocystin) and a larger amount of psilocybin per weight remains, or other alkaloids which produce body load are removed/etc

well i did them tonight. had 1.5 grams and later another 0.5 and i had a jolly-good time.
just nice
no body-load either. me liked. me very tired now.
