How do you do casings? HELP!

I've just started growing, and have had some success with the cake method, but would like to grow more, and more quickly.

I keep hearing and seeing about the casing method, but am still a bit mystified. Can someone offer a link to a growing guide that thoroughly explains this method? Also, I already went aout and bought the ultra-sonic humidifyer- can I use that w/ a casing setup?

PF's site has a method for modifying an ultrasonic... most people ive seen use a cool mist, so i cant help too much. i think theres a post by sir tokes a lot recently which shows a modified ultrasonic; search for that post and look how he has it set up for help.

casings are pretty easy :) dont be too scared of them.

For your first casing keep it simple. Wet and squeeze out excess water out of some vermiculite and place about a half inch in the bottom of a tray. some people say no bottom layer but i think it keeps the cakes hydrated longer... then crumble a 100% colonized cake. or cakes into the tray on top of verm around an inch at least of substrate..a little thicker is even better yields then case the top with straight wet verm again.... be sure to squeeze the excess water again so it`s not drowning the substrate pretty simple really. cover with tin foil and poke a few holes in it. Leave the foil on for about 3 days and give it a peek. you should see mycelia infiltrating the top layer re-case the first few spots with some more verm so you get a more even pinning. About 3 to 5 more days when you see the top layer pretty well overtaken with the good white stuff take off the tin foil and you should see pins in a few days.. If straight verm works good for you. you might want to move on to a 50/50 peat moss/verm mixture... a little oyster shell from your local nursery.... about 10% balance out the acidic PH of the peatmoss. is casing really as simple as you just mentioned? that sounds easier than growing in a terrerium.
