SUMATRA.......

Old buddy was in Sumatra & sent me a print off a local shroom that is said to be "malay paddy wacker" trip (whatever the hell that means? Sounds Aussie?).

Anyway, to agar it went. Print wasn't to frigging dirty & I got a clean isolate on second perti. A part of that perti went into this WBS spawn bag.

Myc ripped through it - like a water buffalo charging through a china shop :grin:

I wonder what the hell it's going to fruit out as :confused:

Anyone heard of any :mushroom2:

If you look at the 2nd map...the bottom of Malaysia is very close to Sumatra.

I was in Malaysia...Singapore to be exact...went there in 1982.
Singapore has always been known for its opium dens...I was lucky enough to visit one during my visit. :smile:

So far no one has collected any cubensis in Bali, Jakarta (Java), or Sumatra. There are Copelandia species in that region of the world but no cubes.

Some cubes were reported and collected by me in northern Kuala Lumphur near the southern Thai border in the late 1990s. But no Cubensis has ever been found in Sumatra.

As for the name Malay Paddy Wacker, that would indicate Malaysia, not Sumatra which is a completely different country.

So far, C. cyanescens has been botanically reported from Sumatra, Java and Bali, photographs taken in Sumatra by foreign tourists resembled Copelandia species were observed and macroscopically identified by JWA. One tourist presented JWA with a series of photographs of "magic mushrooms" taken at a tourist restaurant on Samosir island in Lake Toba, Sumatra. The tourist claimed that the mushrooms are prepared and served in omelettes, pizza's, and "smoothies" to tourists who request them. They are available to tourists in Jakarta and at Parangtritis Beach in Jogyakarta, Central Java and have been mentioned as available at resorts along the Surabaya coast.

Is that what you meant to say or did you mean no cubies? If you did mean there are Copelandia but no "copes" what are copes? I think just a typo but just checking..
