so why is it that we dont let people under 18 join the boards?

not that i dont respect it and think that its a good idea im just wondering why...
i cansee it from the legal point of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and some other aspects. im not sure if that would aply to this site. although regardless of how its worded or what law is being broken it is a liability issue.


i could also see it from a maturity standpoint, with a bunch of 13 year old kids bringing alot of crap to the boards, and drawing negitive publicity after making wrong choices.

but what is the oficial reason?

well lets see, maybe because the shroomer is a "magic mushroom cultivation community" ?

these mushs are rated a drug and any minor below the age of 18 cant
(legally viewed) decide on his own if he wants to try something or
if he is like influenced by the shroomery to try / grow them.

from that age upwards, any decision taken he must stand up for himself
as he legally is capable of evaluating possible risks (crappy law but its like that aintit)

so the 18 year old thingie makes perfect sense to me,
maybe not for ppl just posting in the offtopic boards though.

Think about it this way, little Jimmy minor reads on the shroomery, orders some syringes. Jimmy's mother opens the package...

Also yes, the maturity issue, this is a website for adults, it can be argued whether or not kids should trip I guess. Won't change the fact that this is an adult only website. Minors can be spotted fairly easily.

thats another question. you know that half of these kids we bacn just change their age on the reg page and come back a half hour later...
i mean we really cant stop them if they are lying. how is the shroomery protected from this liability legally?

well, the shroomery says no under 18, so if they post here anyway it's not the shroomery's fault.

in practice it's like a "don't ask, don't tell" scenario.

yeah that is what id gets down to , plausable deniability. im sure that as long as the underage person was banned along with his i.p im sure that the shroomery could not be held liable for them signing up again since it is
a. un-forseeable for them to use the same ip addy
and B. cannot be stopped if the ip is switched.

with the way that we hound these kids here. in a responsible mannner, mods and members alike. i doubt that there would be any legal issue.
