"Gay marriage

I wish to counter some of the claims that have been made about same-sex marriage. Others have commented in this newspaper that a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage would be like writing discrimination into our state laws. I don't see it that way.


Do those people have a problem when we "discriminate" against drunk drivers? We take their license away; isn't that limiting their rights? Do those people have a problem when we discriminate against drug dealers by "limiting their right" to sell drugs? We take their drugs away and put them in prison. Do those same people have a problem when we "limit the rights" of pedophiles? No, of course not.

All those things are clearly deviations from the norm and are dangerous. So why then do they ignore the "many dangers" associated with the deviant behavior of homosexuality and claim that it is just another normal behavior?

If you don't believe me when I say that homosexuality is a dangerous lifestyle, please peruse the Web site of the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (http://www.narth.com). There are plenty of reasons why anything that promotes homosexuality should be banned in our constitution, including same-sex marriage.

Note: Please don't interpret this letter as saying that I hate or dislike those who practice homosexuality. That is not the case. But I cannot condone a behavior that is so injurious to my community and society, not to mention injurious to those who practice it.

i say "to each their own." As long as it doesnt hurt me or others, im fine with them doing it.I dont see how he can interperet homosexuality as injurious, besides wearing out your O-ring. guys do that with girls all the time though. its not a strictly homosexual thing. meh, gays will be gay. it would be like telling me i couldnt play video games anymore.

Well, I wouldn't say being gay is natural, but I certainly don't have a problem with it. If two people love each other and want to be together, who am I (or anyone) to judge them?

It can't be the downfall of society if it's always been around. Homosexuality is commonly depicted in ancinet greek art, and did you know that Plato, da Vinci, Michaelangelo, Alexander the great and many other great figures in history were homosexual.
