how much lye in mescaline extraction?

i have seen people used a lot of NaOH, and seen some people use barely any NaOH. what do you all recommend? i started with 3 feet, then boiled it down into san pedro syrup. i have about 1-1.5 L of syrup. now i am about to add naptha/NaOH, but i dont know exact ammounts to add. when i extracted dmt, i basified water to 13, and slowly added it to my concoction until a ph of 10. but over at nansnook, people are always dumping 1-1.5 full cans of lye into their syrup. any help would be great.

Go the nook way and you shall succeed. Lots of lye helps reducing emulsion and doesn't harm the alkaloids.

With DMT if you add too much lye the DMT will be stuck in the polar phase. They call it lye lock. If you add WAY too much lye you can eventually destroy the DMT.

Mescaline is different. You don't even dissolve the lye, just add it directly and it causes no harm. 'me!' has made a calculator that will calculate the amounts of water and lye to add based on the amount of cactus you start with. Look around for it there.

I had around 750ml of tea and i lost count of the tablespoons i threw in there. Probably something around 20+ during the whole extraction. I think by the last passes the solution was almost saturated with lye  :crazy:

what i always suggest doing is premixing and keeping stock solutions. That way you can know how much to use based on how much acid you've used and based on what the pH is.
