Hi there. Remember me?
    #3761542 - 02/10/05 11:51 AM (19 years, 1 month ago)

Hi there. How have you all been? I have a story to tell you, my friends.

Some of you may have noticed that I've not been around much lately.

Well, I wanted to inform you of why. Oh, it has a little something to do with Swami...    but not in the way you think.

Let's read on, shall we?

--

You see, in the wake of the banning of Swami, many were swept away. So many felt violated, or that HE had been violated, and didn't feel that this place was a welcoming open-minded community anymore. Many felt that the mods had "changed."

Well, let me tell you what happened to me when Swami was banned...

I saw the wave coming, to say the least... mainly because I was PMing with Swami during the firefight that led to his initial ban. Anyway, when I saw that wave coming, I didn't try to fight it... I didn't make a garbled mess of noise as it overtook me and swept me away.

No, instead, I rode the wave away... and what a ride it's been.

When one takes any event too seriously, (and yes, getting upset over someone being temporarily banned on an internet forum DOES COUNT.) they stop making decisions with logic, and start making them with emotion.

If I get "fed up" and declare I'm leaving this board permanently, is it going to correct the "great injustice" done to Swami?

Nope.

Is it going to save me from the horrible injustices that go on all over the place? (Remember, not JUST on this board, but now available all across the nation, even the planet!)

Just guessing, but... Nope.

Is it going to rob me of one of my only resources for intellectual stimulation?

Yes.

Is it going to force me to form a permanent judgement of something/one/place and therefore make myself LESS open-minded in the process of leaving?

Why.. yes, yes it would.

Now, on the OTHER hand, maybe we can just let the wave take us where it wants, and not worry about declarations or "taking a stand."

---

With the abundance of negativity that was festering in this forum after the Swamster's ban, the natural "flow" led me away from here.
I knew things would return to a normal stable point in a while, despite all the "revolutionary" bullshit going on, so I simply allowed myself to float away on the wave for a while.

And as a result I've been staying away from my computer all together, which is making me feel a lot healthier. (I think the monitor is giving me cancer! Time for a new monitor.)

I've been working, playing, singing, watching, listening, eating, drinking, smoking, dancing, meditating, concentrating, loving, and feeling.

What have you been up to, my friend?

Jacques! We certainly HAVE missed you around here. Or at least I have! We're also going to miss you this weekend at the gathering!

I shall smoke many bowls in your honour

Dude, I would, but... well, I've got this hash, and well... that's pretty much my only excuse.  :stoned: :rasta: :spliff: :stash: :bong:

P.S. I figured this might be covered, but I was in the mood to re-introduce myself to the wild, and I figured it would be logical to explain why I disappeared without explanation.

Neal, (Was it Neil or Neal? crap.) I was totally bummed we couldn't come... but Ohio is going to be so awesome this year. I know so many people so much better than I did last year. We totally gotta get together and smoke and trip that weekend, are you down? I think we'd get along great, it's too bad we didn't get to know eachother last time.

I'm not sure if Brandon's still planning to come since he's departed from the boards, but I hope he is.. speaking of which, I'm gonna try to catch him on AIM and ask.

Hehe, yeah it's Neil. I definitely don't like the fact that I didn't get to know you last year. Then again...I did spend quite a lot of time passed out (mmm...absinthe)

I will make it a point this time around to spend time chilling and chatting with you :yesnod:

I have noticed quite a few people missing.  Noticed you missing as well.  Glad to see you back.  This place is a magnet.  A very nice magnet.  It's maybe a little bit dysfunctional, but hey, what family isn't?

Ahh, what a refreshment to have someone return in the midst of all the hasty abandonments, departures, and Goodbyes.

Welcome back..

Yeah, but think of all the people who are actually "leaving for good". Now there is no more credibility left.

Good to hear all is well (except for the monitor perhaps giving you cancer).

How'd the Doc visit go?

Most people that leave for good do not announce it. They just think "What a load of shit" and not come back. Getting angry makes you have to come back eventually.
