Where To Put Jars After Innoculation? * 1

I've just innoculated 12 jars for the first time, I'm following the MMGG tek, but I'm also reading the PF tek. The two tek's are basically the same, except they disagree on where to put the jars after innoculation.

MMGG says to put the jars in a dark place. PFtek says to put them out of direct sunlight, but with indirect light. Right now I just put them in my closet, should I expose them to some light?

Also, the MMGG says not to recover the holes in the lid after innoculation, but PFtek says they should be recovered. It made more sense to me to recover them because of contams, is this the best way?

You can put the jars in a clean and dry place after innoculation, be it in darkness or in light. Most people put them in darkness... You should start giving them light right from the beginning if you want pins early. But from my friend's experience, this doesn't "speed up" anything...

Yes, keep those holes covered with either tape or tinfoil. It will reduce the chance of contam's. My friend takes the tape/timfoil off when the jars are completely colonized, to allow for some air exchange...

Thanks for the advice. After innoculation I put the 12 jars back in the box they came in, which I sprayed with Lysol before hand to kill any contams. Should that be fine?

Yeah that's fine. Keep the holes on the lids covered with tinfoil and/or tape until the jars are colonized, then remove them.
